PROGRESS REPORT FOR 10/4/11

New Words: 1000 on Chapter 1 ("Those Who Came First") Part 1 ("The Skystone Hunter") of Arizona. Now that I've created an almost mythically peaceful semi-paradise, I of course had to start smashing it up a bit.

Total Words: 5700.

Reason For Stopping: Getting ready for work.

Book Year: 8944 B.C.

Mammalian Assistance: Vegas guarded the Writing Room from his box aerie. Friday would've come in too except I knew he'd be fussy once he was on my lap, so he was barred entrance.

Exercise: Walked Tucker the Big Dog around the neighborhood; walking down to campus.

Stimulants: None.

Today's Opening Passage, your standard epic historical fiction infodump: This new cold streak was miniature in geological terms, but its thirteen hundred year span was enough for the Piqmiut to learn to thrive by hunting the massive animals of southwestern North America. Now, though, three hundred years after the warmth made headway on the planet again, the animals were disappearing. Left Tusk’s herd was steadily moving farther and farther north during their summer migrations and not coming as far south with each winter’s return, until in just a few years they were nearly out of the Piqmiut’s territory.

Darling Du Jour: No text-leaping, sabretooth-like or otherwise.

Non-Research / Review Books In Progress: Michener; Follett.
