How Quickly I Forget

madwriterI just realized today that, less than a month after I decided to do this, I'd already forgotten I had a plan to alternate writing and exercise days. Ah well. Remembering is the first step to getting it right, I suppose. Provided I don't forget again.
At least I did the writing today, too. While my exercise discipline may be severely lacking, my writing discipline may be a little better than I thought: I started watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 for the first time today...then after about a half-hour I turned it off so I could get some writing done.
PROGRESS REPORT
New Words: 1200 on Chapter 1 ("Those Who Came First") Section 3 ("The Canal Builders") of Arizona. Kwewu tries to turn the Hohokam's sudden warmongering tide without much success.
Total Words: 38450.
Reason For Stopping: Getting ready for work.
Book Year: 756.
Mammalian Assistance: Vegas was waiting for me at the Writing Room door this morning.
Exercise: Walking down to campus.
Stimulants: Dr. Pepper.
Today's Opening Passage(s): Not my particular personal comment about war, but projecting the beliefs of the Hohokam's descendants backward onto the ancestors (with a little backing from archaeology)...
Kwewu waited to confront Judumi over his behavior until they were on neutral ground, neither Kwewu’s house nor anywhere Judumi trained. At last he found his brother along the river, overlooking children helping their families gather salt as the brothers once did. “Why did you chase them?” Kwewu asked mildly.
“So they would not come back and kill more of us,” Judumi answered with equal calm.
The simple statement was so disquieting that Kwewu struggled to answer it. His brother locked him in a long stare and spoke first. “It upsets you, then? Punishing those who killed us and burned our homes?”
“War is insanity,” Kwewu said, “and I would not see you made insane.”
Darling Du Jour: Nothing springs out at me.
